Experimental Drawing - MATERIALS LIST

Syllabus
MATERIALS LIST: Required Materials: -- in order
First Week -- [absolute minimum - sketchbook and charcoal pencils]
1 Portfolio, large -- can be improvised with a zippered plastic art envelope-- optional
[ using the zippered envelope, you can cut down a slightly over-sized gator board to fit]
1 Roll of Masking tape 3/4"
1 Drawing Paper Pad 18" x 24" (if necessary -- Layout paper pad - smooth)
1 Drawing Board 19"x 25" or larger (can be improvised using 1/2" Gator board[$1 to $50])
1 Package 2 to 4 assorted hardness or medium, Vine charcoal
1 Package 6 (approximately) of Compressed Charcoal sticks
1 Gum Eraser -- large
1 chamoise cloth [or ultra suede (6" square approximately)
1 (or more) rolled paper stomp or tortillion
1 White Castell Eraser, Magic or Mars Statler
1 Kneaded Eraser
1 optional - spray can of workable fixative, (outdoor use only)
1 Large sketchbook 11" x 14" recommended

Second Week --
1+ Graphite Sticks, soft or medium
1 Chamois skin, small (can be improvised with ultra suede)
3 Design Ebony Pencils
4 sheets Vellum Drawing Paper -- 18" x 24"
scissors and/or utility knife

Third Week --
2+ White Conté crayons
1 box of assorted brown, sanguine and black Conté Crayons
1 Charcoal Pad, or 4 sheets toned or tinted pastel/or charcoal paper

Estimated Materials expense: minimum $40, maximum $190, average $75 totals

Recommended Materials (not required):

6 assorted Conté pencils in assorted colors
3+ Graphite Pencils 6B, 4B, 2B, HB
1+ Charcoal & Carbon Pencils
1 small set of -- Oil Based Crayons
1 small set of -- Watercolor Crayons
1 small set of -- Watercolor Pencils - optional
1 General (brand) sketching pencil, -- carpenter's pencil
1 small drafting brush, horse hair or similar - optional
1 Art box, small plastic fishing or toolbox - optional
1 18" ruler
